After a homeless man gives him a rabbit, Nicholas (Ricardo Gray) is sent home to find that his mother, Mindy (Charlotte Marie), now has a new boyfriend named Rem (Timothy Muskatell). Nicholas’s first days with Rem turn out to be horrible as his mother never comes back and leaves Nicholas alone with Rem. Nick is a special needs child and Rem treats him poorly. Eventually, Rem’s abusive nature is revealed as he throws a party with prostitutes and drugs. A masked bunny killer is hunting down everyone in the house and starts off them one by one.
EASTER BUNNY, KILL! KILL! is certainly a horrible movie with vile people participating in horrible acts, but when watching EASTER BUNNY, KILL! KILL! I was reminded of the filthy feeling you watch some of the Grindhouse films of the seventies. Ferrin is also the filmmaker behind modern grindhousers THE NIGHT CALLER, SCALPER THE NIGHT CALLER 2, and PIG KILLER and although this film is not for sensitive souls, it has an edge to it that would surely be effective to fans of the genre.
The hubby’s kills are as gruesome as ever, with the bunny-masked killer applying some serious business with a drill, power tools, and anything else that seemed useful from around the house which was under renovation. The additional plastic covering on the walls and windows gives a sense of feeling trapped, however, in reality, it was to stop the blood from splattering all over the set. It is this kind of low-fi charm that really gives this film its authenticity and a sense of the truth being told. The shape of the mask is reminiscent of a bunny’s which proves to be even more terrifying than the rest of the bunny-masked murderers. The frequent POV shots through the circular hole in the mask, much like the clown mask in HALLOWEEN, are a great idea. And the practical gore is superb when the bunny-masked monster wades through the different scumbags in the house.
EASTER BUNNY, KILL! KILL! takes you on a rollercoaster ride of confounding excitement and suppressed disgust, rebutting the overwhelming emotion is anticipation. In the first few minutes of each episode, you may feel uneasy, EASTER BUNNY, KILL! KILL! This is due to the transformation of the otherwise gentle Nicholas into a soulless merciless killer. Nicholas goes from aimlessly wandering around with his friend to engaging in violent actions, and as this change occurs, you will find yourself feeling overwhelmed. This is soon followed by massive amounts of undertone jokes now directed towards said merciless soulless killer. Along with the show getting more interesting, you will find that EASTER BUNNY, KILL! KILL! does a great job of hinting at events that will take place later on in the series, which builds up your anticipation. Rather than the other posters I have been able to see this series in its entirety.
What will leave you punching a wall is the fact that the school principal was the one who projected the image of a heroine witnessing a shooting. Not only did she witness a person dying, but instead, instead she also turned into a real-life puppet for a global deceit scheme in the education system. With this little detail, the show just completely shatters the boundaries of playfulness and goes into pure disturbing. The reason for this is because not only can the audience feel her pain on being inflicted with intense amounts of psychological warfare, but now we do too over the fear of “how many people in authority would do this, and how many barriers have they broken”. Along with her, more varied yet gruesome pain was hidden behind the safe lack of parenting in the character’s life. casting has always been a sport to Persian eyes.
